As a volunteer teacher, my greatest struggle is dealing with unsupportive parents. Their disrespectful attitude, speech, and behavior which is freely displayed in front of their children, other students and families both in person and on-line sets a negative example for the children, brings down moral and tends to create a negative atmosphere that feeds upon itself.
Through God’s grace, I patiently listen and attempt to understand where they’re coming from and attempt to offer assistance. Is it best just to, “Be happy they’ve sent their children.” Hoping for good guidance.
This principle is key when trying to deal with disrespect:
“The only way to get the best of an argument is to avoid it.” -Dale Carnegie
