We’re in the midst of a seven episode series on the Dale Carnegie model of how evidence DEFEATS doubt. We’ll be using the acronym DEFEATS to teach how to bring credible evidence into your presentation.
S = Statistics
Here are three guidelines for using statistics credibly:
- Ensure they are easily understood
- Reference a credible source (in the audience’s eyes) where the numbers come from
- Provide an easy way for the audience to verify the source
If you use statistics credibly, your numbers will help support your ideas, your proposal, your product, or your recommendation.
