Five ways to tame technology:
- Selectively disconnect. When concentration is needed, turn off the phone, close your email program, or move to a quieter place.
- Determine reasonable times to answer emails and stick to the schedule.
- Turn off as many notifications as practical.
- As much as possible, only deal with each message once.
- Put people before technology. If you are talking to someone, set down devices, turn off screens, or silence alerts.
